The Renovators Paradise story extends back to 1970's

The Renovators Paradise story extends back to 1970’s when founder Ray Hughes an idealistic ‘salvage demolisher’ created contacts to offload materials from historic and period Melbourne homes. At this time recycling was not a buzz word. Ray worked hard to ensure little was wasted that could be used again and energised by the thrill of not knowing what to expect from the next salvage operation. He was a leader in the recycling space and lived for the inevitable highs of the next project.

Fast Forward a generation and the business evolved as a true family concern with a retail premises established in suburban Oakleigh, then it moved to Huntingdale and eventually a larger warehouse showcases a menagerie of materials in Keysborough which Renovators Paradise now calls home. Many improvements have been made to the business model over the years, most crucially an extensive digital presence and an industry leading website. This major development ensured the survival of the business in the marketplace for many years to come. The staff roster has steadily evolved to include employees from various walks of life but all members have one thing in common.

That is, a shared passion in the salvage of building materials that would otherwise be destined to landfill. This is especially important in an era where there is concern on the large volume of waste. Renovators Paradise provides a home for quality building materials available to purchase for those with a keen eye for details seeking a valuable slice of Melbourne’s architectural history.
